AirStash is available to order now for $99.99. Please see your order receipt for an estimated ship date. We won't charge you until your order is ready to be shipped, and you can cancel at any time prior to shipping.
AirStash is currently available in the US and Canada for $99.99 USD. We're currently looking into the legal and regulatory requirements for shipping AirStash to other countries. If you'd like to know when AirStash is available in your country, please follow us on Twitter.
You can order AirStash on our secure online store. Distributors to markets outside the US and Canada should contact us to express interest in bringing AirStash to your market. Please note that we will not be contacting international distributors until we have satisfied the legal and regulatory requirements for distribution in the applicable markets.
AirStash provides up to five hours of continuous video streaming. We are working to optimize the battery life for audio streaming and in standby mode and will announce final numbers before AirStash ships.
The built-in lithium-polymer battery in the AirStash charges when you plug it into a computer. Simply plug the AirStash into a free port on your computer or a powered USB hub (built in to many LCD monitors) to charge the AirStash and drag files to your SD/SDHC card. You can use the included USB extension cable if you're unable to plug the AirStash in directly.
AirStash creates a WiFi (802.11g) access point from your SD/SDHC card. Any device with a web browser can view the contents of the card. Media type support is determined by the browser on your device; if you can click a link to view it on a web page, AirStash can serve it.
On the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, AirStash provides an optimized HTML5 interface for viewing media, including playlist management. No app install is necessary to use this interface. We're working to bring this interface to other devices as well.
Yes, AirStash works with media from the iTunes Store. Some files from the iTunes Store are encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM). Please see this important information about streaming these files with AirStash.
You can download files to your device if your device allows it from its web browser. For example, Firefox allows file downloads to a computer by right-clicking on a link and choosing "Save Link As...". We're planning a method of downloading multiple files in bulk for a future software release.
AirStash currently supports loading files to your SD/SDHC card from a computer using USB 2.0. We're planning to add file upload over WiFi in a future firmware release.
AirStash is a Personal Area Networking (PAN) device which is designed to provide just enough range to cover a small room. A future firmware update will add the ability to increase the range of the device at a cost of battery life.
AirStash uses a SD or SDHC card for memory. SDHC cards are available in up to 32GB of capacity. No card is included with the AirStash.
Cards larger than 32GB require a new standard (called SDXC) and will be available on the market later in 2010. AirStash does not support these cards today because they use a new type of formatting which is not supported by most software and devices, including many cameras and Mac computers. Once these cards are commonly available, we'll investigate providing support via a firmware update for the AirStash.
AirStash is designed to support all SD and SDHC cards. We haven't tested it with each of the thousands of different card models and capacities on the market. If you have trouble with a particular card, please contact us and provide the manufacturer name, capacity, and any model number information that might be available.
AirStash does not require a specific speed class for memory cards. Most SDHC cards on the market can transfer data faster than is required for streaming high-quality video to an iPhone or other device.
The default wireless network name (SSID) is "AirStash" followed by the last two digits of the device's serial number. For instance, a device with serial number ending in "2C" will have a default network name of "AirStash2C". This makes it easy to identify an AirStash network the first time it's turned on. You can change the network name through the settings menu in your web browser.
The volume name will be the same as the SD/SDHC card's volume name. You can set this when you format the card.
